Handball Introductory Program

A Participation Pathway

The Handball Introductory Program is a component of Handball Australia’s National Youth Program.

This is a community focused participation pathway to introduce game based learning at a fundamental stage, accessible to anyone, of any ability, from any background, from simply having fun and social interaction to progress to high performance levels.

Through the Australia Sports Commission’s Play Well Sport Participation Strategy (Strategy | Play Well) the program will adopt an outreach philosophy to engage with participants in their local area.

Commencing with the basic skills of the sport, this eight week program will develop participants knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the game of handball

The program will be led by accredited Handball Australia coaches experienced in delivery of handball programs.

The program will commence in Queensland, New South Wales and ACT in 2025 to be extended to Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia during the course of 2025-26.

Our General Manager, Participation and Development will oversee the implementation of this program and drive its success.
