Handball Australia is Member Federation of the International Handball Federation (IHF). 
The IHF has a wealth of educational material for the development of the sport.

This material includes :

Handball at Schools – Fun, Passion & Health

Handball has been taught in Australian Schools both State and Non-State for decades as an option in HPE at both Primary and Secondary and continues this day to be a popular choice among HPE teachers to include under their curriculum options.

As an IHF federation member Handball Australia follows the lead of the IHF in the structure of teaching Handball at Schools.

IHF promote handball as a lifelong activity commencing in the early years with a motto “Fun, Passion & Health”

The IHF has developed extensive material for the delivery of Handball as a sport in HPE programs. A detailed research project undertaken by highly accredited educational professionals selected from a range of member federations culminated in the publication of Volume One – Teacher Guidelines.

These guidelines superseded the previous resource “Teaching Handball at Schools” which has some excellent tips for getting started with minimal resource. An easy to follow guide focusing on ages 5 – 11.

Coaching

Handball Australia in conjunction with the IHF offered a coaching course in February 2024 to
accredit coaches at D level in the first phase and to progress to A Level International Coaching
Level.

Referees

Handball Australia in conjunction with the IHF offered a referees course in November 2023 to
accredit referees in the first phase of international referee certification.

Subject to numbers future courses can be arranged.

Handball Acknowledges the support of its International Partners and members of the International Handball Federation; England Handball Association & the European Handball Federation with the provision of these resources to aid teachers in instructing Handball as a HPE unit.
