The draw for the 2023 Australian Handball Club Championship, in the men’s division, took place on Tuesday night via a live stream, revealing the matchups for the group stage of the competition.
The draw resulted in two competitive groups for the initial stage of the tournament. Last year’s champions Sydney Uni have been drawn alongside hosts Canberra HC and UNSW, just as they were in last year’s event, in Gold Coast, where they went into the play-off stage with a 100% record.
The men’s competiton will start with a round-robin stage made up of the following two groups, before the top-two teams advance into the semi-finals of the tournament.
Group A:
- UQ
- UTS
- Saint Kilda
- Brisbane HC
Group B:
- Sydney Uni
- Canberra HC
- UNSW
- UniSA
The tournament seeding was based on the final placements at last year’s championship in Gold Coast.
The teams were divided into four pots, with each pot representing a specific seed group. Clubs were seeded as follows:
Pot 1:
- Sydney Uni HC (Champions)
- UQ
Pot 2:
- Canberra HC
- UTS
Pot 3:
- Saint Kilda
- UNSW
Pot 4:
