Sydney Uni to open against SC Magdeburg

Sydney University Handball Club will start their 2021 IHF Men’s Super Globe campaign on Tuesday, against the German Bundesliga club, SC Magdeburg, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The winner of the match will advance directly into the quarter-final, whilst the loser moves into the playoffs for fifth to the tenth position.

This will be Sydney Uni’s ninth consecutive appearance at the world tournament, having first represented Oceania in 2012.

Ten teams will compete in this year’s quest for the title. Six representing the IHF Continental Confederations, one reigning champion, one Wild Card, and two host nation places.

Sydney University will throw off Tuesday morning at 12:30 am AEDT.
