Semi-final spots confirmed; UniSA take another win

St Kilda will face UniSA and UQ is up against Brisbane in today’s National Club Championship semi-finals.

UniSA recorded their second consecutive win, overcoming Brisbane this time, in the last round of the group phase.

UniSA was headed for a big win after going to the break with a 15 to 8 lead, but a surge by Brisbane, in the second half, stopped their momentum.  UniSA held on to win 24:19 but not without a heavy cost to them.

UniSA’s leading scorer, left-back Thomas Schmider sustained a knee injury, late in the second half, that could see him miss the remainder of the tournament.

UQ topped the group phase with a perfect six points after St Kilda pulled out of their scheduled, last-round match to seek government health advice over players that had travelled through Sydney in the last few days.
