University of South Australia claimed their first two points in the men’s competition with a convincing 28:22 (14:13) win over St Kilda this afternoon.
The teams were on equal terms up until the 50-minute mark, but then Uni of SA stepped-up a gear to overcome a tiring St Kilda team. An excellent individual performance by Kenny Lam help steer his team to a comfortable lead, late in the game, which St Kilda had no response to. Lam contributed with 13 goals to UniSA’s tally.
Earlier University of Queensland had no trouble against Brisbane Handball club to pick-up their second win in the tournament and take a clear lead on the table.
UQ went in front early in the game, and never looked back. Brisbane managed only 2 goals at the start of the game before UQ went on a 12-0 scoring streak. In the end, UQ winning 30:11 (16:5).
Tomorrow, UQ faces St Kilda and Brisbane is up against UniSA to close the group phase of the men’s tournament.
