Canberra snatches win from Brisbane in the last seconds

Canberra HC came from behind to snatch a 21:20 (13:16) win from Brisbane HC, in the opening match of the National Club Championship for women, in Gold Coast today.

Brisbane seemed headed for a comfortable win when they took a four-goal lead, with 15 minutes left in play, but then a combination of goals by Hannah Mouncey and Stephany Thuleau put Canberra level, only three minutes later.

Canberra’s defence grew in confidence with time, and Brisbane could not find a lasting solution to keep up with the flow of goals from the first half.

Any chances of Brisbane keeping their lead were shattered in the last two minutes when Canberra scored three consecutive goals to secure the win.
