National Club Championship update

Sydney-based clubs have withdrawn from the National Club Championship after new Covid-19 restrictions were announced by the Queensland government today.

UTS men, Sydney University men, and NSW University’s men’s and women’s clubs cancelled their travel plans following reported outbreaks of new covid-19 infections in the Greater Sydney area. UTS Women’s club is the only exception as they arrived in Gold Coast yesterday before the restrictions were enforced.

Canberra Women’s Handball Club, University of South Australia, and a makeshift St Kilda team are still planning to travel to Gold Coast this afternoon, to join the University of Queensland and Brisbane handball clubs to ensure the competition goes ahead.

Handball Australia is now working with Handball Queensland to update competition schedules and last-minute player transfers.

What he should have said was: ‘bring your gear’!
