AOC announces World Beach Games teams

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) announced today the Beach Handball athletes that will represent Australia at the World Beach Games, In Qatar next month.

The men’s and women’s teams will join athletes from Beach Volleyball, Karate, Sailing, Swimming, Sport Climbing, and Water Skiing to form the team that will represent Australia at the inaugural World Beach Games.

Chef de Mission John Boultbee said the Beach Games was a new concept that gives Australian athletes another stage to compete and develop.

“This is a great opportunity for a number of sports to get competition and profile that often doesn’t come their way,” Boultbee said for the AOC website.

“Apart from looking for results, I am keen to see our athletes involved get very welcome multi-sport team experience, and the opportunity to learn from each other.”

The Australian team is made up of a mix of national team veterans, and new names who will make their debut in the Australian colours.
