Defending champions win through preliminaries with some surprises

After an exciting 2 days play at the 2017 Australian Beach Handball Club Championships in Adelaide the preliminary rounds are complete and we’re heading into the semis and finals.

Defending Champions East Melbourne Spartans are on top of the Men’s A pool with ten set wins, and competitors Wellington Parrots topping the Men’s Pool B on 8 sets. In the Women’s event Brisbane’s RUOK have 12 set wins followed by The Beachsters on 10 and the Maroubra Bluebottles on 9.

The Mixed division is running in 2 Pools. Topping Pool A is the Maroubra Bluebottles on 10, followed by the Wellington Parrots on 9. Pool B has Hart wie Stahl on 8.

Saturday has started with 8am games and 3 courts running through the day. This afternoon also sees friendlies between and Australia and New Zealand, with the Women at 4pm and the Men at 5pm.

Hosts Handball SA’s Tammie Hamilton is enjoying the athleticism on show and the great vibes from all the competitors. The spirit of Beach Handball is truly on display and teams contribute to the organisation and officiating.
