Glenelg Beach ready for the 2017 Australian Open Beach Handball Club Championship

Glenelg Beach in South Australia will host 27 teams for the 2017 Australian Open Beach Handball Club Championships next week, between February 23-26.

The East Melbourne Spartans (men) and Sydney’s Maroubra Bluebottles (women and mixed) are returning to defend their titles and expecting fierce competition from Australian and New Zealand clubs. There will be 11 teams in the Men’s competitions, 11 in the Mixed event and 7 women’s teams vying for national honours.

Players aiming for the U17 Oceania Championships in the Cook Islands in May will also be participating, testing their skills. The Australian senior squads are preparing for the World Games in Poland in July and playing friendlies against New Zealand on Saturday February 25th with the Women from 4pm and the Men following at 5pm.
