Who we are
The Australian Handball Federation (“ Handball Australia”) is Australia's governing body for the sport of Handball – for both Beach Handball and the indoor Olympic Handball version.
Handball Australia is a nation member of the International Handball Federation (IHF), a member of the continental body the Oceania Continental Handball Federation (OCHF) and a member of the Commonwealth Handball Association (currently not active).
There are presently six full member associations and one probationary member:
- ACT Handball (ACT)
- Handball SA (SA)
- Handball VIC (VIC)
- Handball West (WA)
- New South Wales Handball Association (NSWHA)
- Queensland (QLD)
- Northern Territory (NT) - Probationary member
Within Australia, Handball Australia is recognised by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC). The State Members are also required to be affiliated with their State Olympic Committees.
World Champion cyclist Anna Meares sits on the AOC Athlete’s Commission. She represents Handball, Hockey, Cycling and Basketball.
